Crafts that require measuring and mixing are a great way to encourage your kids to enjoy both science, and cooking. Just make sure they know which crafts aren’t edible!
Corban loved getting to squeeze the food coloring himself, and really focused on only getting a tiny bit.
Each cup starts out with some white school glue (which I’ve learned to just start buying by the gallon) and food coloring, which we mix in with popsicle sticks.
The cups we’re using were sent to us by Cheeky, which makes super fun disposable dishes for a good cause. Every purchase of their products leads to a meal donated to help fight hunger. We loved the cheerful samples they sent us so much, I just had to buy more! You can get some of your own at Target. (They’re not paying us to share them with you, I just really like them!)
The next step is to dissolve the Borax in some warm water. Make sure it’s warm or your Borax won’t dissolve and you’ll get sad grainy slime. Trust us on this one. If you want to know more about our Borax Slime Recipe, make sure to read our article on it.
You can find Borax really cheap at Wal-mart. It’s great for all sorts of things including homemade laundry detergent, crafts and science experiments, stain removal, and even killing fleas! Not that we’ve ever had fleas in our home, twice. Nope, not here. If you are hesitant to use Borax for creating slime, you might find our Borax free slime recipe quite interesting!
Once you’ve got your various colors, you can mix them together to make beautiful colorful Easter Egg slime. When your little one is done playing with the slime, you can keep it sealed in an airtight plastic bag for several weeks. Corban plays with his every day. It’s now a solid grayish purple color, but he loves it just as much as the day he made it! Easter Crafts for Preschoolers: Easter Egg Slime
Colorful Easter Egg slime is a great sensory craft for little fingers, and one of our favorite Easter crafts for preschoolers.
Ingredients
- 10 oz white school glue, divided
- 1 tsp borax, divided
- 2 cups warm water, divided
- in Food coloring four Easter colors
- cups disposable and popsicle sticks
Instructions
- Divide the glue between four cups (2.5 oz in each). Add a couple drops of coloring to each cup and mix well with popsicle sticks.
- In another cup, add borax to the water and mix well until all the borax is completely dissolved
- Pour 1/2 cup of the borax water into a glue cup and immediately stir.You'll see (and feel) it start to thicken immediately, just keep stirring it until it's too thick to stir, then remove it and knead it in your hands until the stickiness goes away.
- Repeat with 1/2 cup of borax water into each glue cup, until you have all four colors. Then press the colors together by hand.
- Store in a zip top plastic bag.
