Yesterday I promised a honey mustard dip that’s good for you, and today I deliver. I’ve become slightly addicted to Greek yogurt lately, and am discovering that it makes a great substitute for mayonnaise in a lot of recipes. This honey mustard dip is perfect for chicken wings, chicken tenders, or even fresh vegetable sticks, and you can eat it guilt free.I’ve started using the Livestrong MyPlate tracker to help me pay attention to exactly what’s going into my body. While I realize that we eat healthier than most people, I also know that there are a lot of areas that we can work on. For instance, I’m a snacker, and keep a lot of healthy snacks at my desk. But even though nuts and dried fruit are healthy, if I don’t keep track of how much I’m eating, I may find that I’ve had 2 cups of pecans by the end of the work day. That’s over 1000 calories!
I’m not obsessing over every calorie, but I am trying to make sure that I really am getting as many vitamins and nutrients as possible, and that my caloric intake averages to a healthy amount each week. Basically, it’s a test to see if my diet is really as balanced as I feel it is.
The good news for you, is that some recipes can now include nutrition information. I can’t do this for every recipe, it takes me 4-8 hours to complete a recipe post, and inputting each one into a recipe calculator would add another thirty minutes I just don’t have! But sometimes I do so to keep track for myself, and when that happens, of course I’m willing to share it with you!
For instance, this lovely dip has three simple ingredients: plain Greek yogurt, deli mustard and honey. The cup of dip is enough for at least eight people, so it’s about 1/8 cup for a serving. Here are the nutrition facts:
GREEK YOGURT HONEY MUSTARD RECIPE
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup Greek Yogurt
- 1/4 cup deli mustard
- 3 TBS honey
Instructions
- Whisk ingredients together in a bowl until thoroughly mixed. Serve chilled.
Notes
Approximate cost/serving: We get our Greek yogurt and mustard at bulk stores like Sam’s Club or Costco. You can get honey there too but we prefer local honey. This cost About $1 to make. With eight servings it’s just 13 cents a serving! At a cost like that you’ll never want to buy premade dip again!
Vegetarian/Gluten Free: There is dairy, but no meat. Naturally gluten free.

Thanks so much Jenni!
This is great! I love Greek yogurt and am always looking for ways to get it in my diet instead of nasty things like mayo! Also having a 2.5 year old daughter this sauce seems great! Thanks for sharing!
OMG this sounds like heaven, cannot WAIT to try it
So what would need to be done to make this more of a dressing?
Thank you for this easy delicious recipe. I’ve been making Paula Deans honey mustard which is delicious but super fattening. I followed your recipe and added a bit of hers by adding a tablespoon of orange juice and a tablespoon of lemin juice and it helped pop the flavor a bit, FYI. Enjoy
Oooh that sounds wonderful Gina Marie, I will give it a try!
So I LOVE Greek yogurt with fruit and in warm dishes that for instance you would use sour cream in normally and so on. I made this dip to be more of a dressing and/or marinade. Firstly, I substituted agave nectar in place of honey because its what I had on hand and was bbqing shortly after I decided to make this so needed it asap. Besides I always use agave when making homemade baked beans so figured it would work fairly well. Second, I used half spicy brown mustard and half yellow because that is just the way I like my normal simple honey mustard made with honey and mustard. Third, I did not like the tartness from the Greek yogurt in this dip for a salad (cold) BUT I absolutely loved it when used to marinate chicken breasts thinly sliced and pineapples sliced and then both tossed on the grill…made an excellent filling for a wrap. I will definitely try this with honey and see how much I like it that way next time I make it. Thanks so much for the recipe and by the way I love having nutritional facts with recipes as it makes my life much simpler and it is very appreciated.
I forgot to add that I also added a squeeze of lemon juice. I also do this when making my simple honey mustard and adding a tiny bit more than I usually would seem to tone down the tartness of the Greek yogurt a little bit.
Making this tonight! Please always leave the nutritional info. That’s never a bad thingto have. How do you calculate it though?
I now do nutritional info on all our new recipes! We have a calculator as part of our recipe app that uses a huge databases to provide the info. It’s not going to be 100% accurate but will help give a good estimate.
