On Saturday, Eric and I got together with his sister Heather and her boyfriend John, and Eric’s parents, Jeff and Patti, to have a couple’s gingerbread house contest. It was a lot of fun, and we decided it would be great to have a bunch of unbiased people be our judges.
So I came up with the brilliant idea of posting the pictures on my blog and letting my fellow foodies vote on them. I’m posting an overall shot of each house along with some up close detail photos. Please leave a comment on which gingerbread house you think should win (A, B, of C) and why you chose it. On Wednesday, December 10th I’ll tally the comments and declare who you chose as winner! (Eric, Heather, John, Mom and Dad, you don’t get to vote!)
A. Christmas Chalet
Chewing Gum Roof Shingles
Gum Wrapper French Doors
Graham Cracker Wheelchair Ramp
B. Country Chapel
Melted Hard Candy Stained Glass Windows
Slivered Almond Roof Shingles
Gumdrop Lamps and Hard Candy Gravel Path
C. Candy Cottage
Marshmellow Snowman
Neco Wafer Roof Shingles
Jelly Bean and Gumdrop Path
Oh my gosh, these are amazing!!! I don’t think I can pick just one!
Hmmm. B!
It’s the gumdrop lamps and gravel path 😀
Oh my…I agree with Tina…so hard to choose. I guess if I have to choose, I like the chapel – it’s an original type of house!
I really want to make a gingerbread house this year 🙂 Hopefully it’ll go well! Did you buy your gingerbread pieces or did you make them?
I think C is the pretiest, but I would have to go with B because of the attention to detail.
I like C. the best since it looks very pretty with the pastel roof and has a cleaner look.
I like C. The Necco wafer roof is cute. But all of them look delicious! 😉
I’m a sucker for nuts, so I have to go with the Chapel but great job everyone!!
these are all incredible! it’s almost impossible to choose just one. c really jumped out at me because it’s so traditional and adorable (and necco wafers! yay!) and i loved a, especially because of the graham cracker ramp, but i think b has such a cool roof and it’s a neat and original idea. so i vote b. when do i get to eat it?
I like B: Country Chapel. I’m a sucker for creative stained glass, and I liked that it was traditional with a little twist on a normal gingerbread house.
Wow, beautiful! I would pick the country chapel. Also, those melted hard candies in the stained glass are super cool! Oh, but that jelly bean path is so neat too…
B the Country Chapel, though they’re all lovely the roof and stained glass windows win it for me.
What a fun idea! I love the creative uses for the roof on all of them.
B is my favorite!
I like all 3 of them. All so well decorated. If I have pick one then I will pick C because of the colorful decorations 🙂
What a tough decision, their all so worthy! I think I like the chapel the best. What a fun idea!
My choice would be C… I like the shingles and entry path tho the door. I also like the snowman – he’s so cute welcoming the guests.
(A and B are great too! What a fun idea to make it a contest… that way everyone would definitely pay more attention to detail).
They are all beautiful! But I vote the country chapel with the high steeple and stained glass windows!! 🙂
My favorite’s C, the Candy Cottage. It’s extremely well-executed, with clean lines. But I love the stained glass windows on B. That nearly beat it out.
My 4-year old daughter got very excited about all of the gingerbread houses! She into food and “plans to be an architect”. She picks B for the best design!
I vote for the country chapel.
I’ve never made a gingerbread house myself. One more thing on my to do list!
I am a newbie posting here, hope I do it right….I vote for “C” because I like the trees, roof, snowman and pumpkins! hmmmm…I may borrow your idea. I do like the stained glass windows and the steeple of “B”..
Happy Holidays!
Very Fun ! I like this ! Congratulation…
Definitely the last one. The church with steeple is my second choice, but the last one made my jaw drop.
They’re all great, but I love the trees on B, so I guess I vote for B.
country chapel, cos it looks the most fun
s
How cute! Candy Cottage.
Zen Cupcake
I love them! These are all beautiful… Let’s see… I vote B. Looking forward to hearing the results!
I’m going to have to say C, but they are all good.
all awesome but I vote B cuz of the almonds. I would like to make one with no candy whatsoever. We’ll see if I get around to it.

That was one of the hardest things to decide. There were things I loved about each, but in the end I pick B. You got me with the stained “glass” windows.
Such attention to detail, it’s so difficult to choose! I’m torn between B and C but I think I’m going to plump for B cos I love the almond shingles and gumdrop lamps.
Was a tie between B and C for awhile…I have to go with C though, I adore the roof!
I really like the idea of this, it is a fun way to get your creativity flowing. The best bit has to be that you can eat it after (although it may be too sweet). I like them all in different ways but I think ‘B’ is my favourite. Thanks for including me as your friend.
Wow! So beautiful and such clever use of candies! I vote for C because it makes me think of the Hensel and Gretel fairy tale by Brothers Grimm.
Simply beautiful all of them… if i have to choose one then i pick C.. with the colorful path and cute snowman… make it really appealing!
These are all great, but I have to go with C because of all the cheery, fun colors!
I’m going to say B because of the attention to detail, the sliver shingle? genious. but want to say that C is very pretty as well
I like all of them but I’m gonna vote for A for creativity (gum wrapper doors) and who’d think of a wheelchair ramp. So fun!
I vote for C! I love the idea of Necco Wafer roof tiles, and the snowman is adorable. But what really wins me over is the snowy pumpkin patch!
All designs are interesting and great! I love the gums and that chapel concept so B I shall choose ha.
how lovely! how hard it must’ve been to arrange those almond shingles!
Great stuff. Check out my gingerbread creations over on my blog. http://www.rockrecipes.blogspot.com
I’m going with C, that little snowman is so cute and it’s very colorful.
What a fun idea!
Wow Diana I am soo impressed with your following! I didn’t expect so many responses 🙂 Can’t vote because one of those is mine we had a blast that day!
OOO they are all awesome, but I have to go with B, cause of those windows!
These are all beautiful but I’ve got to go with the chapel – the melted candy windows look amazing!
The chapel – thanks for sharing!!
This is so hard! I love them all and what a great idea for a fun adult night.
I think I’ll have to go with A. I love the wheelchair ramp and the gum wrapper doors.
They are all soooo good though!
They’re all lovely and I’ll bet this was a lot of fun. I’d have to go with B as well. I love the almond roof.
I like C, especially the snowman but I’m voting for B cos the details are just too awesome!
Good work!
I’d have to go with C. I liked the walkway.
My boys like C!!!!
Merde!!! I’m too late!
oh well, I couldn’t have decided anyway.
Well done, all!!
