REFRESHING SUMMER SANGRIA
One of my favorite parts of summer in the Pacific Northwest is the abundance of berries growing every where you look.
Since no drink says summer quite like an ice cold pitcher of fruit filled sangria, I just had to turn the abundance from our garden into sparkling, refreshing, sangria berry punch.
This sangria berry combo starts with plump, juicy blackberries, some tender, tangy raspberries, giant, sweet blueberries, and some perfectly ripe, sliced strawberries.
Next come ten of the biggest mint leaves I could find in my garden, the juice of a couple limes, and half a cup of triple sec for some sweet citrus notes.
Top them off with a bottle of Riesling, and pop the pitcher in the fridge overnight (or for at least two hours) to let the flavors come together.
When you’re ready to serve your sangria berry punch, pour a bottle of sparkling wine (I like Prosecco) into the pitcher for some bubbly fun.
Pour the sangria into ice filled glasses, and use a slotted spoon to scoop out some berries to add to each glass.
Garnish each glass with a sprig of mint and slice of lime, and serve with festive straws. Now you have the recipe for a perfect backyard BBQ!
Want to try this refreshing summer sangria, but don’t have a party coming up? Pour yourself a glass, and then turn the rest into sangria berry popsicles!
