These slow cooker hot dogs are swimming in a chili cheese hot tub of deliciousness, and only need THREE ingredients. Which means you get to play with your kids in the backyard instead of standing over a hot stove. Winner winner hot dog dinner!
SLOW COOKER HOT DOGS OR PRESSURE COOKER HOT DOGS?
Somehow, summer often manages to be even busier than the school year, which can make dinnertime stressful. That’s where this recipe comes in handy.
There are days when you’ll want to have dinner ready and waiting for you when you get home from that trip to the beach, and there are days when you just realized you have to throw something together before the evening ball game. This fun recipe can go either way!
In fact, since it’s just hot dogs, canned chili, and canned cheese soup, you can have the kids throw it together for you!
If you’re planning ahead, you can toss the ingredients into a slow cooker and leave them to do their thing. In a last minute pickle? Your pressure cooker is the way to make this meal fast. I love my Instant Pot, because I can set it to work either way – fewer appliances on my counter and just as much flexibility.
MAKING SLOW COOKER HOT DOGS WITH CHILI AND CHEESE A BIT HEALTHIER
If you’re wary of filling your kids up with preservative-stuffed hot dogs and white bread, have no fear! The great thing about this recipe is that you can make your slow cooker hot dogs (or pressure cooker hot dogs) as healthy as you like.
Use organic, natural ingredients like preservative free hot dogs, your favorite canned chili, and whole wheat buns to help you to enjoy your slow cooker hot dogs without worrying about your family’s health.
The hardest ingredient to find a healthy version of is the cheese soup, but you can easily make your own natural condensed cheese soup if avoiding preservatives and additives is important to you.
